The 300hr program serves to present an integrated study and practice of Hatha Yoga (through the study of Light on Yoga, and other key texts), Patanjali's yoga, Kundalini Tantra and Ayurveda to facilitate the transformation and evolution of the student in a holsitic way. This program serves to inspire complete development in your lifestyle, teaching style and classes.
Those new to Yoga will be immersed and established in the progressive understanding and supportive practice of Yoga.
Existing Yoga practitioners will learn Yoga essentials to deepen and refine their Yoga practice, that cannot be fully explored in Yoga classes.

Light on Yoga is considered the modern bible of Yoga. It has been in print for over 50 years and contains all of Iyengar's fundamental teachings for progressively learning the yoga asanas to fully develop in the eight fold path of Patanjali's Yoga. Iyengar's accommodating and transformative approach allows everyone to access the healing benefits of yoga, weaving all holistic aspects of the raj (royal) path of yoga. Proper alignment techniques will be taught to bring our mind from being distracted in life and practice, to a place of expanded awareness of our self. This mindful understanding of our physical body will allow us to penetrate and take the senses inwards towards the core of our being. We will approach the practice of asana systematically. Firstly, to avoid injury through proper sequencing. More subtly the understanding of this intelligent sequencing will leave the practitioner not only feeling physically strong and healthy but ultimately to bring a sense of well being and mental calm. This will allow for a more harmonious mindset from which to relate with ourselves, others, and the world around us. Secondly, this systematic approach gives a definitive guideline to gain all the holistic benefits that the asanas have to offer. Integrate ayurvedic / yogic practices and lifestyle guidelines for adjusting your Yoga to support feminine health. Inspirational teachings from Geetaji Iyengar, Maya Tiwari and Christine Northrup will give insight into practices and modifications which are most useful to; find balance throughout the monthly menstrual cycle, encourage fertility, reduce any adverse symptoms associated with menstrual cycles, and take preventive and supportive measures to ensure a smooth and healing transition into different stages of feminine transformation. This module is a prerequisite for our deeper look into female health and pregnancy in Module 9. The yoga-asana focus for this module will take us deeper into the inverted positions, primarily our practice of headstand and shoulder stand will be emphasised to a point we can work more intimately and deeply with the king and queen of all the asanas. These practices will serve to harmonise the glandular system. Quieting the mind and awakening the balancing potential of the nervous system we are be able to access the deep and healing capacity of the restorative actions in preparation for the progressive study and practice of the Pranayama. We will introduce the history and development of the use of props and restorative yoga as pioneered by the lifetime dedication and knowledge left behind by the legacy of Guruji BKS Iyengar. In this understanding we will look at ways and means to modify and vary the practice of yoga asana. This enables us to accommodate and effectively guide students of different capacities and experience to find comfort by understanding their bodies and supporting their progression in practice on every level. This study will also give us a huge understanding on how to be equipped to deal with certain ailments and contraindications effectively and professionally. We will apply this knowledge to finding balance through understanding the passive and subtle aspects of asana practice; complimenting and harmonising the more active and dynamic forms of Vinyasa and Astanga Yoga, neutralising the effect excessive Yang (heating quality) of over stimulation and highly demanding lifestyles and yoga practices that we are engaged in. This introduction to restorative yoga will also be applied to accommodating students of different physical abilities and age groups. This allows us to sustain our asana practice throughout life's ups and downs, and into our later years, to promote longevity and graceful aging. As a part of our energetic anatomy studies we will engage in depth with the study of the chakras and the nadis in relation to our yoga practice, emotions, and their healing capacity. This understanding is essential to go onto the second part of the energetic Anatomy studies in Module 7. We will be graced with the presence and experience of my Kundalini Yoga teacher Pritam Khalsa. She will guide us through the essential understanding of the Kundalini Yoga and Meditation practices taught by Yogi Bhajan. She will shed light on the process of becoming a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher affiliated with Yogi Bhajan's international organisation, 3ho. Yoga, tantra, and ayurveda are all rooted in Samkhya philosophy, and its concepts are essential in understanding the context for study and practice of these transformative sciences. This long weekend retreat will open up your understanding of these concepts making the integration of yoga, ayurveda and a heightened state of awareness, seamlessly as a part of your daily life. We will delve deep into essential Ayurvedic concepts understanding the creation of the universe and how the material manifestation operates under different influences and primal qualities. We will learn authentic, supportive and remedial yogic methods of cleansing through studying and practicing the Shat Karmas, as given by the authoritative Hatha Yoga text, the Hatha Yoga Pradika. Promoting rejuvenation and longevity we will be introduced to the practices of Pancha Karma and guided to implement and integrate rasayanas; rejuvenating Ayurvedic herbs and tonics.We aim to reunite the sister sciences of yoga as we understand yoga, pranayama and meditation techniques that are most suitable for each individuals transformation and healing to occur. This will also give a a personal and remedial approach to teaching and inspiring conscious living amongst teachers and students of Yoga. In conjunction with studying Ayurvedic nutritional concepts we will get hands on with Conscious Cooking courses over the weekend. Through refining our capacity to sit in a steady, joyful and effortless manner we lay the foundations for deepening the inner aspect of our Yoga quest. We will further grow our knowledge base of restorative yoga and delve deeper into advancing and progressive pranayama techniques as prescribed by Guruji Iyengar's Light on Pranayama.This module serves to study and practice the forward extensions in a specific sequence to allow the full calming potential that the forward bends have to offer our nervous system, and mental landscape. The forward bends will be complimented with the study of lateral extensions/ twisting asanas. This systematic approach to these asanas have a deep healing and pacifying effect to a digestive system that is under a lot of pressure and stress from our lifestyle and diet. To add to the perspective of the deep breathing techniques learnt and practiced, we will take time to study the anatomy of the breath, all the accessory muscles that are responsible for breathing. We will look at the bandhas (energetic seals), that harness and channel the subtle pranic energy that we cultivate through pranayama, from an anatomical viewpoint. Through the practice of Yoga Nidra, the deepest aspects of our consciousness and subconscious mind will be purified and a profound transformative effect will be experienced. Satyananda Yoga Nidra was devised by Sri Swami Satyananda Saraswati from traditional Tantric practices and has had a major impact on the world of yoga. Satyananda Yoga Nidra is a pratyahara technique in which the distractions of the mind are contained and the mind is allowed to relax. This practice will form a great tool for you as a teacher to introduce and allow your students to understand and access the subtle aspects of yoga and the mind. This tool is a great compliment to restorative and pranayama practices, and meditation classes. Through our dedication to the progressive practice of the light on Yoga syllabus we will be primed and ready to explore the more technical and challenging standing poses. The practice of these invigorating standing poses will open us up physically and mentally to approach the back bends with reverence.Learn the fundamental principles of backbends and appropriate sequencing and soon you will be understanding and warm enough to approach the more intermediate and advanced backbends. In the process of opening our heart with the practice of the these energising asanas, we will enter into the core of the Yoga sutras of Patanjali, deepening our understanding of the most fundamental concepts of Patanjali's philosophy. We will approach this study in a very systematic and practical way, always linking these concepts to our yoga practice and everyday life. Our anatomical study for this module will link the backward extensions to the study of the cardiovascular system. We will also explore the connection of the heart to the immune system and the role of the lymphatic system as our primary access to well being. We will get hands on palpitating muscles to deepen our understanding of their reach and function. Studying more closely the myofascial meridians, acupressure and ayurvedic marma points. As a part of our structural studies we will go over a series of assessment to determine joint mobility, certain muscle restrictions and any postural misalignment. With this awareness we can personalise our own remedial practice and guide students to tailor their practice to bring anatomical balance and harmony. In our asana focus for the module we will work on developing inner strength and finding our close center. This will allow us to be able to balance on our arms more effortlessly and through working the abdominal toning asanas we will understand the importance of the health of our organic body, creating the environment and strength to support our digestive organs. Module 7 Overview Kundalini Yoga II Pancha Kosa Prana Vayus Meridians and TCM Yin Yoga Ten Bodies Bhandas Mudras Pranayama Sets Module 7 In this module we will lean on the knowledge of the three most classical yogic texts of hatha Yoga; The Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the Siva Samhita and Gheranda Samitha. These will be a resource to reinforce the fundamental concepts of internal purification. Through understanding these fundamental yogic texts we will further understand the energetic anatomy looking closely at the concepts Panch Kosa and Prana Vayus. Drawing from traditional chinese medicine we will explore the energetic means to invigorate and revitalise the organs through the i of the meridians. We will apply this knowledge into practice through the lens of Yin Yoga postures that specifically relate to particular meridians and organs. In this module we will go deeper into the fundamental concepts and practices of Kundalini Yoga that we had established in Module 3. We will systematically approach the practice of the advancing yogic techniques that are laid out in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. We will safely and effectively integrate the practices of advanced pranayama techniques, bandhas and mudras, according to our personal capacity. These technologies, once understood and progressively studied, will be brought together with the practice of kriyas, in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Drawing from Yogi Bhajan’s teaching we will have another blueprint of our subtle anatomy. We will be learning the concepts and developing an awareness to bring balance to the Ten Bodies. Through learning pathology we will look at traditional and complementary ways to manage and get tot the route cause of the most common diseases of our times. Understand a yogic approach to management of disease in the body through practice of specific asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation techniques. Gaining inspiration from Guruji Iyengar's own health struggles and his healing journey through yoga, we look more closely at the supportive environment that is nurtured by the specialised use of props and remedial sequencing.
